🦇 The Crypt: Tuesday Night Movie Club

Howdy creatures ! Welcome back to the digital diary of a living dead show girl <3. Now that the post-birthday depression has cleared and I am blessed with a semi-manic surge of energy – I have a new plethora of ideas to pursue !

Let’s start with my childhood shall we! For those who do not know, I grew up dancing. I went to a performing arts high school so by the time I was in high school I was literally dancing all day and night. I had practice every night after school, a long day of rehearsals Saturday morning, and while I usually had Sundays off, during the Nutcracker season I lost that priviledge. All of this to say – post-high school I was really looking forward to a little free time.

That didn’t last long, for I am a sucker for over-committing myself and a strict routine. Throughout college I worked for a semi-pro dance team which was slightly less demanding than my high school curriculum but not by much. Late night rehearsals, early morning workouts, and 13 hour game days on Saturdays filled my schedule up a good bit. After graduating college and a few amazing years with that team I finally got my freedom, and with it came – the depressies.

For the past year or two I’ve been living it up. Just working ! My only commitment was a job ! No school, no extracurriculars, it was a fabulous concepts.

Update I am bored out of my mind. I have no purpose. I’m not pursuing burlesque as actively as I should be. I am just bored, complacent, and eager to change that.

For starters, I am enrolling in a ballet class. I miss the art form so much. It destroyed my self-confidence from the inside out in my youth but now that I’m no longer chasing an unattainable dream I am ready to venture back into my first love with a new perspective and whole lot of “you can’t bring me down.”

Editors note: it is of the upmost importance to me that you read that quotation suicidal style. Meaning, in the exact key and tone as Mike Muir in his band’s 1990’s hit You Can’t Bring Me Down

Can’t bring me down!

AnYwAyS ! I am trying to delicately venture back into dance. Yay woohoo for me !

Now – to the actual topic of this weeks post – there is one other hobby I would like to pursue.

One other endeavor I would like to add to my weekly roster…

Tuesday Night Movie Club

So ! For those who don’t know – movies are cheaper on Tuesdays :0 ! It used to be $5 Tuesdays but in this economy I’m not sure many theaters still comply with those rates. Still – regardless of the updated price, a theater viewing is cheaper on a Tuesday. For that reason I am reserving this day of the week for movie club. If there is something worth seeing in theaters, to the theaters we shall go, and if not I will host at my house.

This is something I am hoping to implement within my friend group. Pretty much any night I’m not working, my boyfriend and I will watch a movie. However ! To switch things up I want to MANDATE that this happens on Tuesday and try to force this hobby upon others !

Good idea, right ! Yeah, we shall see…

If you are local and know me off of the internet – send me a message if you would like to partake in this ritual !

If we are internet strangers – we can still watch movies together in spirit (but with a very real physical distance).

I hope this works out – I find if difficult to (1) not only make friends as an adult but (2) actually make plans and maintain relationships with people. I miss my friends dearly and would love just one day a week somewhat guaranteed that I will get to see them ya know ?

So far this week, Nate and I have watched Hannibal and Late Night with the Devil. Stay tuned for some in depth movie reviews because I have A LOT to say about those films ahhhh.

Okay to sum up, I love movies AND I love people who love movies. On Tuesday nights I want to watch movies with people and have fun. I want a well balanced social interaction that doesn’t run too late because I know we all have to work the next day but I still want my cup full and heart happy. As well as stimulation from a good film.

I have spoken it into the universe.

Movie people find me.
